Alexander Rakhlin is an associate professor in the Department of Statistics at the Wharton School at the University of Pennsylvania, with a secondary appointment in Department of Computer & Information Science.
Rakhlin received bachelor’s degrees in mathematics and computer science from Cornell University and a PhD from MIT. He was a postdoc at UC Berkeley EECS before joining Penn, where he is a co-director of the Penn Research in Machine Learning (PRiML) center. His research is in machine learning, with an emphasis on statistics and computation. He has received a NSF CAREER award, an IBM Research Best Paper award, a Machine Learning Journal award, and the COLT Best Paper Award.
